Robert Burns Day in Milton School

Robert Burns is a famous Scottish poet who was born on January 25th 1759.  Every year Scottish people celebrate Burns Day by holding a Burns Supper.  We had a Burns Day in Milton when we tried different activities connected to his poems.    In his poem Tam O'Shanter, Tam is chased by witches who pull off his horses's tail. We played pin the tail back on the horse.   My Love is Like a Red Red Rose is a very famous poem which is now a famous song.  We did art activities making red roses.   We then all went to the dining hall for our Burns Supper.  We had soup, followed by haggis, turnips and potatoes.  This is known in Scotland as "haggis, neeps and tatties".  We then had "clootie dumpling" and custard.  We finished the day by singing Auld Lang Syne which was also written by Burns.
