Our Project.
At our meeting we filled out a large part of the Comenius Appication Form, but here is a quick over view.
All our pupils have special needs and have limited opportunities to engage in international experiences. Many of our young people have socio-economic challenges and cultural diversity. By participating in a Comenius project they will learn to co-operate with people in their own communities and those of our European partners. It will provide pupils opportunities to learn about different cultures, history, languages, appreciate their own and partner countries and in doing so form friendships.
Our main aim is to improve our use of outdoor learning to develop pupil’s communication, independence and mobility skills. Through this experience we would like to develop the following:
• Inclusion and social integration
• Literacy\social reading
• Life, learning and work skills
• ICT
• Numeracy \ functional calculation
• Health and well being, personal safety, confidence and self esteem
• Positive attitudes to collaboration
• National and European citizenship
• Environmental awareness
The multi disciplinary staff teams involved in this European collaboration would:
• develop and share special education methods, resources, systems and pedagogy
• be more flexible to improve inclusive school practices through outdoor activities
• improve mobility and communication of pupils
• develop European citizenship throughout their schools
• Develop European language and communication skills
• improve ICT skills
• Enhance their continued professional development
• Promote innovative outdoor learning in their environments
The project will involve parents and the local community through partnership working.
